We estimate that No. 2007 Prince of Wales will cost around £5m to build over a seven year period.  As with Tornado, funds are being raised through regular monthly donations, donations dedicated to specific components, The Boiler Club and commercial sponsorship.

We have the expertise, the track record and a plan…. But this can’t happen without you.

The Founders Club: launched in September 2013 with a target of recruiting 100 members each donating £1,000 to raise the funds for the acquisition and cutting of the frames. The Founders Club closed to new members in July 2014 having attracted over 360 supporters and raising £460,000. What a spectacular start to the project!

The Boiler Club: the boiler is the beating heart of a steam locomotive and to keep construction on schedule we need to order the boiler in 2015 for delivery in 2018. It is our desire to leave No. 2007 debt free and therefore our aim is to raise £600,000 with The Boiler Club from 300 supporters each donating £2,000 (in up to 40 payments of £50 by standing order). We are delighted to have already reached over 20% of this target.  You can join The Boiler Club here and download the donation form here and the standing order form here.

The Mikado Club: following the success of The Founders Club (to get the project to the point of cutting the frames) and The Boiler Club (to fund the construction of the boiler) we have decided to establish The Mikado Club to fund the wheeling of No. 2007 Prince of Wales. You can see full details here.

Regular donations: most of the funds to build No. 2007 will come from a large number of people giving a small amount of money on a regular basis – “a P2 for the price of a pint of beer a week” or £10 per month by standing order. This formula worked extremely well financing the construction of No. 60163 Tornado.  You can download the donation and Gift Aid form here and the standing order form here.

Dedicated donations: a steam locomotive has many components and we are offering our supporters the opportunity to ‘sponsor’ specific parts and to have their name associated with them.  These will be regularly featured on this website and the P2 Facebook dedicated donations page.

Commercial sponsorship: we are fortunate in having a number of industrial sponsors who made a great contribution to the construction of Tornado and we actively seek and welcome support from industry.

Single donation: single donations for any amount are most welcome at any time. You can download a form here.

Privacy Policy: please view our Privicy Policy by downloading the sheet here.

Volunteering: there are many ways in which you can help us with No. 2007 Prince of Wales. Please email  for further information.
